OLYMPIA
HISTORY
Since 1 October 2010, Lazio has had its own living symbol. An Alaskan golden eagle, born in captivity, weighing around 7 kilos and with a wingspan of 2.10 metres. History and tradition come together in the name of Rome, the city represented par excellence by the symbol of the bird of prey. It lives in the Formello Sports Centre together with its falconer Juan Bernabè

Premiere at the Stadio Olimpico
A majestic flight to unreachable heights. The debut at the Stadio Olimpico came on 22 September 2010 in the championship against AC Milan. In the presence of around 50,000 spectators, the golden eagle soars and lands with precision on the podium, accompanied by the loud roar of the crowd.

The choice of a name
After the first flight, President Lotito decided that the eagle would remain in Formello for good, giving all the Biancocelesti fans the chance to choose its name. The popular poll all converges on Olympia, which prevails over the names Vittoria, Libera and Skeggia. It is 1 October 2010.

Premiere with the fans
An unexpected off-schedule. The date is 21 October 2010. During a Lazio friendly against Tor Tre Teste, the club opens the gates to its fans. Olympia emerges from the tunnel of the sports centre and takes off to the Mirko Fersini Stadium.

The first social event
A special tour: in schools, in hospitals, among families, at events and promotions. Olympia is always present, bringing smiles to many people in difficulty and less fortunate. In December 2010, the first visit to the oncology ward of the Bambin Gesù Hospital.

The first retreat
Auronzo 2011. Lazio begin their preparation for the new season, surrounded by the affection of the many fans present. Olympia also goes into training camp with the team. Framing her flights is not the Olympic Stadium, but the imposing Tre Cime di Lavaredo. The spectacle is mind-boggling.
2016
The first derby
The most heartfelt match of the season, the most eagerly awaited. On 4 December 2016, the derby is played at the Stadio Olimpico. For Olympia it is a much more difficult flight, due to the massive turnout at the stadium and the two opposing fans. The eagle completes three laps before gliding onto the podium.
